BS5499 signs are designed to meet the applicable British Standard 5499, normally relating to fire exit signs. Fire exit signs or Emergency exit signs indicate the direction of the exit in the event of a fire or emergency requiring evacuation of a building. Bi-lingual English / Welsh signs contain text in both English and Welsh.

This sign is designed to comply with ISO / EN 7010, the latest safety sign design standard. ISO 7010 has been adopted across Europe, and in the UK superceeds BS5499 the former design standard for health and safety signage.
